Wow! What a milestone in Mayday’s career! Europe! London on 19 September 2013! O2 ARENA! Rumors had been flying around that they will embark on their first ever Europe tour this year. Finally, the news is confirmed! It must be any musician’s dream to be able to perform in the magnificent O2 Arena! Last year, Mayday performed a smaller ‘Just Rock It’ concert in a more intimate setting – Wembley Stadium. You can read more about that concert here.
So what is so great about the O2 Arena?
Many famous musicians performed here! The late Michael Jackson was supposed to stage his ‘This is it’ tour at O2. Britney Spears’ Circus Tour, all 8 eights, was sold out in 30 minutes! Legendary rock musicians like U2, Bon Jovi, Metallica, Led Zeppelin and Iron Maiden all performed on this stage! A-mei was the first female Chinese singer to grace the stage in 2012. So well done Mayday – the first Chinese rock band to conquer O2! I am so proud of my boys! 赞!
The tickets for the Netherlands concert will be on sale from 12 July 9 a.m. From the Livenation website, I saw the venue stated: Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam Zuidoost on 22 September. Subsequently, Mayday will go to France on 24 September and end their Europe tour in Germany on 26 September! (Congrats Gabi! Send Mayday my love in Germany). This is extremely cool! I wish I can embark on this Europe tour with them! I feel that the tour is very hectic. They only have like 2 days of rest between each destination. I wish they will have more time to recuperate and do some sightseeing! Take care boys!
From the Bin-music website, I read this write up which is quite interesting:
Monday 8th July – Taiwanese rock band Mayday will be bringing their Nowhere World Tour to London’s O2 Arena on Thursday 19th September 2013. Tickets priced from £60 (subject to per-ticket charge plus order processing fee) go on sale at 9am on Friday 12th July from www.livenation.co.uk or www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
Since their first public appearance 13 years ago, Mayday have released 8 studio albums, earning themselves a place in heart of Asian music fans all over the world.
Winners of over 150 music awards – including the 4 times winner of Best Band Awards from the Taiwan Golden Melody Awards, the Global Chinese Music Awards and the CCTV MTV Music Awards amongst others – Mayday have been recognised all over Asia as a “Sublime Band” for their explosive and highly energetic live performances and their contribution to music.
With their memorable live shows, the band played over 300 shows to over 10 million fans on their 2012 – 2013 world tour, breaking all records with 200,000 tickets for their Beijing Bird’s Nest Olympic Stadium show selling out in just 24 hours, 6 consecutive Taipei Arena shows, 4 consecutive Kaohsiung Olympic Stadium shows, leading to Asian media praising them as “Concert Kings” and UK press hailing them as the “Chinese Beatles”.
The band released “Mayday: 3DNA” in 2011 – a 3D movie of their live show and the first of its kind to be released in Asia. The group look set to continue to push the boundaries of technology with the release of their second 3D movie “Mayday: Noah’s Ark 3D” (due for release September 2013) featuring advanced aerophotography and spidercam technology.
Don’t miss your chance to see Mayday live in the UK this September!
The article truly highlighted Mayday’s impressive accolades. And I thought I was the only crazy fan to use the word ‘sublime’ to describe Mayday – the ‘Concert Kings’ and ‘Chinese Beatles’ – proudly saluted by the article. I also learnt some new terms from this article. What is aerophotography? After watching so many Nowhere concerts, I have no idea that photography from the airplanes is used?!
So who is so lucky to join Mayday during their Europe tour!
It must be very magical to listen to Ashin on stage in UK where The Beatles is from…
